Estimate mean PAP from echocardiography (TR velocity) or right heart catheterization
Mean PAP (mPAP) is the key diagnostic criterion for pulmonary hypertension. Per 2022 ESC/ERS guidelines, mPAP >20 mmHg defines pulmonary hypertension. Calculate from echo or right heart cath data.
| mPAP | Classification |
|---|---|
| ≤20 mmHg | Normal |
| 21–24 mmHg | Borderline elevated |
| ≥25 mmHg | Pulmonary hypertension |
