Short-term MACE risk in chest pain patients in the emergency department

Overview

The HEART score was developed to identify chest pain patients at low risk for MACE (major adverse cardiac events) who may be safely discharged from the ED without further workup.

5 Components (0–2 points each)
Highly suspicious: chest pressure, radiation, diaphoresis, nausea
LBBB, LVH with strain, non-specific ST/T changes = 1 pt
Risk factors: HTN, hypercholesterolemia, DM, obesity, smoking, family history
