Aortic Valve Area — Gorlin Formula

Calculate AVA from cardiac catheterization hemodynamic data to grade aortic stenosis severity

Overview

The Gorlin formula calculates the effective aortic valve area from hemodynamic data obtained at cardiac catheterization. It remains the gold standard for quantifying aortic stenosis severity when echo data is discordant.
